π« Soft Chocolate Icing
Ingredients
- β cup cocoa
- 3 Tbsp cornstarch
- 1β cup sugar
- ΒΌ tsp salt
- 1Β½ cup milk
- Β½ stick (4 Tbsp) butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
In a saucepan, whisk together β cup cocoa, 3 Tbsp cornstarch, 1β cup sugar, and ΒΌ tsp salt.
Gradually stir in 1Β½ cup milk until smooth.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick.
Remove from heat and stir in Β½ stick butter and 1 tsp vanilla until butter is melted and incorporated.
Cool before spreading on cake or cupcakes.
Tips
- Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface while cooling to prevent a skin from forming.
- For thicker icing, cook a bit longer; for thinner, add a splash more milk.
- Works great on sheet cakes, layer cakes, or brownies.
