Recipes

A collection of recipes managed in Obsidian and published to thingshare.xyz/recipes.

How It Works

  • Recipes are written and edited in Obsidian (synced via iCloud)
  • This repo is a Hugo module consumed by thingshare
  • On push to main, a GitHub Action triggers thingshare to rebuild

Publishing Workflow 

# After editing recipes in Obsidian
cd ~/Library/Mobile\ Documents/iCloud~md~obsidian/Documents/Mustang_Corral/Recipes
git add -A
git commit -m "Add/update recipe name"
git push

The thingshare site will automatically rebuild and deploy.

Recipe Format

Each recipe is a markdown file with YAML frontmatter:

File Naming

  • Use snake_case.md for all files
  • Example: chicken_tinga_soup.md

Tags

All recipes use the recipe tag plus relevant category tags:

  • Ingredient: chicken, beef, pork, seafood, vegetarian, vegan
  • Dish type: soup, stew, salad, dessert, drink, bread, etc.
  • Cuisine: mexican, italian, asian, american, etc.
  • Style: spicy, smoky, comfort-food, quick, etc.

Local Files (Not Published)

These files are gitignored and only exist locally in Obsidian:

  • _recipe_style_guide.md - Detailed formatting guide
  • claude.md - AI assistant instructions
  • .claude/ - Claude Code settings
