Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1–2 fresh jalapeños, sliced (leave seeds for heat, remove for milder)
Instructions
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves completely.
Add 1–2 sliced jalapeños and simmer gently for 5–10 minutes (longer = spicier).
Remove from heat and let steep for 10–15 minutes.
Strain into a glass jar or bottle and cool completely.
Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Tips
- Adjust steeping time to control spice level
- Use gloves when handling jalapeños if you’re sensitive to chili oils
- Serranos make an even spicier version
