🧀 Cheese Popovers
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 cup milk
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup grated cheddar cheese
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a popover pan or muffin tin.
Combine 1 cup flour, ¼ tsp salt, 1 cup milk, 2 eggs, and ½ cup grated cheddar. Mix until smooth (small lumps are okay).
Divide batter evenly among prepared cups, filling each about ⅔ full.
Bake at 375°F for 40 minutes. Do not open the oven door during baking.
Remove from oven and quickly slit the tops with a sharp knife to release steam.
Return to oven and bake 5 minutes longer until deep golden and crisp.
Serve immediately.
Tips
- Bring eggs and milk to room temperature for better rise.
- Don’t overmix—a few lumps are fine.
- Serve with butter, jam, or alongside soups and roasts.
- Best eaten fresh; they deflate as they cool.
