🧀 Cheese Popovers

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup grated cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a popover pan or muffin tin.

  2. Combine 1 cup flour, ¼ tsp salt, 1 cup milk, 2 eggs, and ½ cup grated cheddar. Mix until smooth (small lumps are okay).

  3. Divide batter evenly among prepared cups, filling each about ⅔ full.

  4. Bake at 375°F for 40 minutes. Do not open the oven door during baking.

  5. Remove from oven and quickly slit the tops with a sharp knife to release steam.

  6. Return to oven and bake 5 minutes longer until deep golden and crisp.

  7. Serve immediately.

Tips

  • Bring eggs and milk to room temperature for better rise.
  • Don’t overmix—a few lumps are fine.
  • Serve with butter, jam, or alongside soups and roasts.
  • Best eaten fresh; they deflate as they cool.
